Successful test of DRDO

The Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has prepared an indigenous air defense system. DRDO successfully conducted the first test of the integrated air defense weapon system (IADWS) on the coast of Odisha on 23 August 2025 at around 12:30 pm. In this test, missiles were blown behind the target and the missiles managed to kill their goals in the air.

The integrated air defense weapon system is a multi -level air defense system, including all indigenous quick reaction surface -to -air missiles. It has a total of three types of missiles. (QRSAM) indigenous quick response surface -to -air missiles, advanced over -short distance air defense system (VShorads) missiles and a high -power laser -based energy weapons (Dew) are included in this defense system.

How strong is Indian air defense system?

The Indian air defense system is one of the most advanced and stronger systems in the world, capable of protecting from air threats such as ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, fighter jets, drones and helicopters. This multi-lecture system has been developed keeping in mind the dangers arising from neighboring countries, especially Pakistan and China. India’s air defense system is based on an integrated network of advanced radar, missile systems, and command-end control centers, which makes it extremely effective.

S-400 defense system

Made in Russia is one of the most important forces in India. In 2018, India signed a deal of Rs 35,000 crore for 5 squadrons. It can detect the target located in a distance up to 600 kilometers and kill up to 400 kilometers. It can track 80 goals simultaneously and target 36 goals. It is capable of destroying ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, fighter jets. It has been deployed in Punjab, Rajasthan and other border areas to prevent threats from Pakistan and China.

Akash missile system

Indigenously developed by DRDO and Bharat Dynamics Limited, this system has a 25–45 km surface-to-air missiles. The range of Akash Next Generation was increased to 70–80 km, which can track more than 60 km to 150 km. It is capable of destroying fighter jets, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. A battery can track 64 goals and attack 12.

Barak-8

The defense system jointly developed by India and Israel is capable of destroying the target up to a height of 16 km with a range of 70–100 km. It is effective in preventing aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. It can simultaneously stain 24 missiles at 16 goals. It is used in the Navy and Army. It has been deployed at important bases like Bhatinda. The ballistic missile defense system destroys ballistic missiles outside the atmosphere at an altitude of 80 km. Its range is up to 2000 km.
