A case of suicide of a 23 -year -old student has come to light in Ernakulam district of Kerala. The reason for the student’s suicide is being stated to be forcibly conversion. The girl’s family alleges that her lover and her relatives pressured her to adopt Islam for marriage, due to which she took this step. The police have taken the accused lover into custody.
What is the whole matter?
The girl, who hails from Kothamangalam, was a teacher of a teacher training course. On Saturday, she was found hanging from the noose in her house. Initially, the police considered it an unnatural death, but later a suicide note was recovered from the scene. In this note, the woman has accused of physical and mental harassment about conversion.
In the suicide note, the victim clearly spoke to pressurize her lover and her relatives to convert. After this, the police took immediate action and took the woman’s lover into custody. An investigation into other allegations including abetment to suicide has been started against him.
Accused of victim’s mother?
The victim’s mother is a domestic assistant. He made a shocking disclosure that the accused family had brought a proposal of marriage for his daughter and was pressurizing him to change religion. According to the mother, initially the daughter had said yes to conversion due to love, but when she came to know that the accused was also involved in a case related to smuggling, she changed her mind.
The mother claims that her daughter was truly loved by the accused and was ready to marry her despite the smuggling case, but she clearly said that she would not change her religion. The mother also alleged that the accused had recently held her daughter hostage in a room in her house and pressured her to convert. The victim’s brother has also alleged that her sister was assaulted and threatened.
Police action
Police have said that the accused will be arrested soon. The official said that the truth of forced conversion allegations would be ascertained through intensive investigation. (With language input)
