Durand Cup: The colorful debut of the football tournament, East Bengal defeated South United 5-0 in the inaugural match
Durand cup: Kolkata’s name is also famous for football’s maize. In this, the 134th Daund Cop started on Wednesday last night. In its inaugural match (Group A) East Bengal FC and South United FC teams were face to face. In this inauguration match, East Bengal FC performed tremendously and defeated South United FC 5–0.
Earlier, ‘City of Joy’ Kolkata Asia’s oldest football tournament witnessed the colorful start of the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup. Meanwhile, the event organized at Vivekananda Yuva Bharti Kreedangan (Salt Lake Stadium) was inaugurated by Honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal by hitting a symbolic kick. West Bengal Minister Arup Vishwas, Minister Sujit Bose and Minister Manoj Tiwari were also present on the occasion.
Whereas on behalf of the Indian Army, the former command of the Indian Army took the head. General Ram Chandra Tiwari, Patron of Eastern Command and Durand Cup Organizing Committee. General Mohit Malhotra and Chairman, Durand Cup Organizing Committee, Major General Rajesh Arun Mog, Vice President, Dund Cup Organizing Committee, Major General Vijaykumar R.K. Jagtap, General Officer Commanding, 59 Infantry Division and Major General Dhrub Prakash Shah were present on behalf of Nepal Army.

The opening ceremony of the Durand Cup began with Bengal’s famous “Baul Gayaki”, which is a confluence of devotion, philosophy and folk tradition. After this, Maratha Light Infantry’s “Zhang Pahnka” dance, Krav Maga by Rajputana Rifles, Balance and Testation by Assam Regimental Center, Maratha Light Infantry Marshal by Art Maratha Light Infantry, Bhangra by Sikh Regiment, Khukri dance and Sikh Regiment by 5 Gorkri Dance and Sikh Lite Infantry by Sikh Rifles and Sikh Lite Infantry A grand fusion presentation of all artists with cadets brought alive the cultural diversity of India.
The main glimpse of the ceremony helicopter fly-paste:-
Apart from this, the most exciting glimpse of this ceremony was a fly-pot of three helicopters of Army Aviation. One hoisted the tricolor by the advanced light helicopter, two cheetah helicopters waved the Eastern Command and Daund Cup flags. In half time, the tunes of the army pipe band mesmerized the audience.
