E order of Kerala High Court to lower courts- avoid using AI, otherwise action will be taken

The Kerala High Court has directed the lower courts not to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) equipment to issue judicial orders. This is the first such decision of its kind in the country. The High Court has issued special guidelines for judicial officers and others, which clearly states that cloud-based AI equipment such as chatjiPT should not be used to issue orders. Action will be taken on violating these guidelines.

Court instructions on the use of AI

The guidelines also clarify that AI should not be used to reach any conclusion, issue orders or to pronounce the decision. The High Court has insisted on taking care in the use of AI equipment, as there is a possibility of errors.

Obtaining proper training mandatory

According to these instructions, it is mandatory to receive proper training before using AI devices. This will have to participate in training programs organized in Judicial Academy or High Court. If AI devices are used, they must only be approved.

The High Court has also directed that every stage of use should be supervised. In addition, if any discrepancy is found in approved AI devices, the IT department of the High Court should be informed immediately.

Establishment of Kerala High Court

Explain that Kerala High Court is the High Court of Kerala State and Union Territory Lakshadweep. It is located in Kochi. The Kerala High Court was established on 1 November 1956.
