Allegations against former player
The player on which the allegations are leveled have been a part of the West Indies’ National men’s team (Cricket). The matter came into the limelight when the West Indies team is playing a Test series against Australia in Barbados. The team is performing brilliantly on the field, but the dispute has raised the concern of both the team and the board. However, the player’s name is not yet revealed.
First, a young woman lodged her complaint in the Berbis area of Guyana. After that, many more women came out one after the other, who accused the player of sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior and intimidation.
Negligence is happening in action?
Nigel Hughes, a lawyer of one of the victims, has said that the matter is not new. His first complaint by his client was lodged two years ago. Then Guyana’s Director of Public Provisions (DPP) had also recommended to frame the charges, but no concrete action was taken.
Not only this, some victims believe that the matter was deliberately slowed due to the influence and identity of the cricketer, so that it could be hidden from the eyes of the media and the public.
