The new one-stop platform, ECINET, will integrate and redirect the existing mobile and web applications of ECI.

ECINET will have a beautiful user interface (UI) and a simplified user experience (UX), which will provide the same platform for all the activities related to the election. This step is also made for users to download and navigate several apps and reduce the burden of individual logins.

The platform was conceived by the Chief Election Commissioner of India (CEC) Dnyanesh Kumar in the presence of Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi during the conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) held in March 2025. ECINET will enable users to access the relevant electoral data on their desktops or smartphones. To ensure that the data is as accurate as possible. The data on ECINET will only be recorded by the authorized ECI officer. The entry by the concerned officer will ensure that the data provided to the stakeholders is as accurate as possible. In the event of any conflict, the primary data duly filled in the legal forms will be valid. The ECINET will include the current apps like Voter Helpline App, Voter Turnout App, CVIJIL, Facility 2.0, ESMS, Saksham and KYC app.

ECNET is expected to benefit around 100 crore voters and the entire electoral system. This includes more than 10.5 lakh booth level officers (BLOs), about 15 lakh booth level agents (BLA), about 45 lakh polling officers, 15,597 Assistant Election Registration Officer (AERO), 4,123 EROs and 767 District Election Officer (DEO) across the country. ECNET has already reached an advanced phase of development and strict tests are being done to ensure smooth functionality, ease of use and strong cyber security measures.

It is being developed after reviewing a detailed consultation exercise, 767 DEOs, 767 DEOs of all states/union territories and a detailed consultation exercise which includes 4,123 EROs from their states/union territories and after reviewing 76 publishes of 9,000 pages of electoral structures, instructions and booklets issued by ECI. The data provided through ECINET will be strictly aligned within the legal framework installed by instructions issued by ECI from time to time and time to time. Edited by: Sudhir Sharma
