In an important development, the power supply of the prestigious Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been discontinued, Bescom has taken this decision due to not following the fire safety rules. This action was taken as a precautionary measure, as it was found that KSCA, who operated the stadium, did not take compulsory fire safety approval despite regularly hosting a large crowd for major cricket matches and programs.
Subsequently, the Director General of Karnataka fire and emergency services issued a formal recommendation of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to cut power. On this recommendation, the managing director of Bescom took action and the power of the stadium was cut off. Officials have said that this disconnection will continue till the necessary safety certificate is received.
