Election Commission press conference

The process of special intensive revision is going on before the assembly elections in Bihar. Meanwhile, the leaders of the opposition led by Rahul Gandhi have accused the election, disturbances in the voter list and vote thief. The Election Commission held a press conference on Sunday for these allegations. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar along with six other officers were present in this press conference. However, the Chief Election Commissioner himself answered all the questions. During this time his emphasis was on 15 days window. He said that there is still 15 days left to improve the voter list of Bihar. The Election Commissioner repeatedly appealed to all the 12 political parties and common people that in these 15 days, tell the deficiencies in the format voter list of Bihar and help in creating the right voter list.

Why Sir during the rainy season?

The Chief Election Commissioner said that in 2003, there was a special intensive revision in Bihar between July 15 and August 15. Even then it was successful and this time too, forms of more than 7 crore people were returned in less than a month. The process of reforming the voter list should be done before the election, not after the election. He said that according to the constitution, the date of April 1, July 1 and October 1 can be considered the basis for inclusion of the new voter in the voter list. The date of October 1 was very close to the election and April was far away. In such a situation, July was the exact date.

How about 22 lakh voters suddenly killed?

The Election Commissioner said that the voter list is updated every year, but then the forms are not sent from house to house. In such a situation, the BLO is not able to get information about the death of any person and the name remains connected in the voter list even after the death of that person. Everyone’s home forms are sent in SIR. In such a situation, the correct figures are revealed. For this reason, information of 22 lakh dead people was received. He had died earlier, but the name has now been cut from the voter list.

Sought affidavit from Rahul Gandhi

The Chief Election Commissioner said that Rahul Gandhi will have to pay an affidavit on his allegations within seven days or apologize to the country. If not doing so, his allegations will be considered baseless. He said that there is 45 days to complain of disturbances in the election. However, only the person of that constituency can complain. For this, Form 6 has to be filled. After 45 days, the person who accused the complaint has to give an affidavit. Otherwise his complaint is considered a political statement.

1.6 lakh BLO list of preparations

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that SIR has started in Bihar. 1.6 lakh booth level agents (BLA) have prepared a draft list. Since this draft list was being prepared at every booth, booth level agents of all political parties verified it with their signatures. Voters have submitted a total of 28,370 claims and objections. When so many people are involved in a process, how is the theft of votes possible.
