Encounter started between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir
An encounter between security forces and militants started on Sunday in Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the initial report, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) terrorists are likely to be hidden in the area. Security forces have surrounded the entire area. The operation is going on and more information is awaited.
Earlier on 26 June, a terrorist of Jaish-e-Mohammed was killed in Basantgarh area in Udhampur.
On April 23, an attempt was made to infiltrate a terrorist infiltration near LoC in Uri sector of Baramulla. The army killed 2 terrorists. Army officials said that security forces saw 2-3 militants trying to infiltrate.
JCO Kuldeep Chand of 9 Punjab Regiment was martyred in an encounter with terrorists on 12 April in Akhnoor. The encounter started a night earlier in Kerry Battal area of Akhnoor.
Apart from this, 3 terrorists were killed by security forces during an encounter in Kishtwar forests on 11 April itself. The three terrorists belong to Jaish-e-Mohammed. These included the top commander Saifullah.
Earlier, a Pakistani intruder was killed by BSF personnel on RS Pura sector on LOC in Jammu on the night of 4 and 5 April.
At the same time, 4-5 Pakistani intruders were killed in an army encounter on LOC on 1 April. The incident took place in Poonch in the forward area of the Krishna Valley sector on LoC.
3 encounters a month in Kathua
In March 2025, there were three encounters of security forces in Kathua. The first encounter took place on 23 March in Hiranagar sector. Security forces had reported the hiding of 5 terrorists associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed’s proxy organization People’s Anti Fascist Front, but they managed to escape.
The encounter took place for the second time on 28 March. In which 2 terrorists were killed. During this period, 4 soldiers of Special Operation Group (SOG) Tariq Ahmed, Jaswant Singh, Jagbir Singh and Balwinder Singh were martyred. Apart from these, three soldiers including DSP Dheeraj Singh were injured. He is undergoing treatment.
The third encounter took place near the Panjatirthi temple in Kathua on the night of 31 March. Three terrorists were reported to be hiding in the area. A terrorist was also killed, but did not officially confirm.
