ENG vs Ind: Will Ben Stokes play the fifth Test match? English captain himself answered
In the fourth Test match against India, there has been an update on playing in the fifth match of Ben Stokes, who is suffering from heavy workload and shoulder injury. He himself has answered the question whether he will play the last match or not. At this time, England’s team seems to be dependent on Ben Stokes with both bat and ball, so it is very important for them to stay fit.
After the Manchester Test draw, the English captain stressed that of course he is struggling with pain at this time but despite this he is planning to take the field for the fifth and decisive Test match. The England captain had a problem of left leg cramps and his shoulder was also hurting and that is why he bowled less in the second innings against India at Old Trafford and the English team had to be satisfied by the fourth Test draw in the end.
Stokes said in a press conference after taking five wickets in India for the first time in eight years in the first innings, “This is just like the work burden. We had a lot of over and everything starts dominating you. I will keep trying, will keep moving forward and as I say to all the bowlers, the pain is just a feeling. I will always try to overcome every difficulty for the team.”
Stokes revealed that his biceps tendon suffered an injury. His injury is the result of his workload, due to which he has thrown 140 overs in four Test matches, which is his highest bowling in any series so far. However, Stokes, who took the most wickets in the series, is optimistic about landing on the ground at Oval on Thursday.
He said, “Hopefully I will be fine till the last match. I am trying my best to recover. I have been going for a long time for a long time, I will always try to give my best. I do not want to take back my point, but I am very less likely to play.”
