England cricket team shocks, this dangerous bowler returned after playing IPL out of West Indies ODI series
England vs West Indies ODI 2025: England fast bowler Joffra Archer has been eliminated from the three ODI series starting against the West Indies due to the right thumb injury. Luke Wood has been included in his place. Wood made his ODI debut for England in November 2022 and also played two ODIs. He played his last match against Ireland in September 2023.
Archer was hit in the thumb injury against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025 match of Rajasthan Royals on 4 May. Archer was one of the three England cricketers who did not return to India for the IPL, which started after a week’s break, besides two other players Sam Curren and Jamie Overton. Archer played 12 matches this season and was able to get only 11 wickets.
Archer was included in England’s ODI team for the West Indies series, but despite playing in the last series in India, he did not get a place in the T20 team.
The ECB said in a statement that the situation of Archer will be re -evaluated by the medical team of England Cricket in the next two weeks, only then it can be determined when Archer will be able to play again.
The ODI series between England and West Indies will be played from 29 May to 3 June. a
