In January next year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vande Bharat train connecting Kashmir to New Delhi on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL).

Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu said that Railways has completed 255 km of the 272 km of USBRL project. The pending 17 km section between Katra and Reasi will be completed by the end of this year. He said that as per PM Modi’s schedule, this project will be inaugurated in January 2025.
Every aspect is being investigated thoroughly
A railway official said that every aspect is being examined thoroughly and all these things are being inspected extensively and officials and technical teams are making frequent visits to ensure that everything is in place. In this project, the train will pass through the world’s highest railway bridge, Chenab Rail Bridge. A total of 38 tunnels and 927 bridges have been built in the project. Chenab Bridge is also included in these. Its length is 1375 meters, archer length is 467 meters and height is 359 meters. This bridge, about 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower, is considered to be the highest Archer Bridge.
Plan to run Vande Bharat train
There is a proposal to run Vande Bharat Express on this route as soon as there is rail connectivity from Katra to Srinagar. Under this, train number 12425/26 from New Delhi to Jammu Tawi, 12445/46 from New Delhi to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, 16031/32 from Chennai Central to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, 11449/50 from Jabalpur to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, 16787/88 from Tirunelveli. Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, 16317/18 Kanyakumari These include train number 19803/04 from Kota to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and train number 12331/32, Howrah to Jammu Tawi and seven other trains.
