Cyber fraud incidents
Incidents of cyber fraud in India are increasing rapidly. Despite technical advocates and agencies being active, there is an online fraud of about Rs 177 crore every year in India. Facilities like UPI and Digital Payments are being made easier on one side, as well as they motivate cyber criminals to cheat. According to NCRP data, more than 6,000 people become victims of cyber criminals every day. In most of these cases, cyber fraud is carried out due to negligence of people.
The victims of cheating in these methods
Cyber criminals make people a victim of cheating in many ways, in which social engineering, digital arrest, virus attack etc. are most commonly used. The most cyber fraud is done due to social engineering and digital arrest. Social engineering has become the easiest way for cyber criminals to implicate people in their net. People are implicated in a bluff in the name of free reward, free gift, investment offer etc. Apart from this, a digital arrest incident is carried out in the name of fake CBI, police, custom officer etc.
Government has run awareness programs
The government has run a variety of awareness programs to protect people from cyber fraud. For this, online portals like National Cybercrime Portal, Chakshu, Communication Partner have been launched, so that the incidence of cyber fraud can be easily reported. Apart from this, cyber cell has been created in every state, which work to take action on such incidents. Not only this, the National Cybercrime Helpline Number 1930 has also been released, on which the cyber fraud can be reported.
Apart from the Department of Telecommunications and Telecom Regulatory, the Reserve Bank of India has taken several necessary steps to stop the financial fraud. Mechanism has been made to block fake callers. On the instructions of the Reserve Bank of India, bank accounts to be transacted by cyber criminals are immediately freezed. However, all these are insufficient unless the common people are aware of it. You can also protect yourself from cyber fraud, you have to be a little cautious.
