DRDO chief Dr. Sameer V. Kamat gave information about Project ‘Kusha’

India is moving rapidly towards a new revolution in the Defense sector. In fact, the S-400 air defense system of Russia was very much discussed in the recent struggle between India and Pakistan. With this, India destroyed the drones, missiles and fighter jets of the enemy country. Now India is preparing an air defense system over S-400 and S-500 in Russia, which will prepare the country to face future security challenges. This information was given by Dr. Sameer V. Kamat, Head of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in a special conversation with India TV.

Better than S-400

The equivalent of DRDO, S-500, which is preparing an air defense system, is named ‘Project Kusha’. In such a situation, this is a great moment of pride for India, because it will be fully manufactured in India, which will reduce the country’s dependence on foreign weapons significantly. The DRDO chief said that the system is as powerful as Russia’s S-500 system and in some cases better than the S-400.

What is the project Kusha?

Project Kusha is a long-range air defense system, which the Indian Air Force and Navy will start inclusion in their fleet by 2028-29. The system has the ability to destroy enemy stealth fighter jets, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, drones and large aircraft such as AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System).

This system will include three different interceptors missiles

  1. To deal with dangers in the range of 150 km.
  2. To deal with dangers in a range of 250 km.
  3. 350–400 km to deal with dangers.

Project Kusha’s specialty

According to reports, the cost of the project Kusha is estimated to be around half as compared to the S-400. This system can easily connect with the existing system of the Indian Air Force, which will bring proficiency in operation. Project Kusha has state -of -the -art radar and sensors. Its radar is very strong, which can identify the dangers within a radius of 1500 km. It is capable of targeting hypersonic missiles and targets flying at height. In future, its range can be increased to 400 km further.
