Bengaluru. A 20-year-old woman died tragically in a fire at an electric vehicle (EV) showroom. This incident happened at MY EV store at around 5:30 pm on Monday evening. The deceased has been identified as Priya, who was an accountant in the showroom and was a resident of Ramchandrapura. Priya was going to celebrate her 21st birthday on 20th November.
According to the police and fire brigade, the fire occurred due to battery explosion during charging of the EV scooter. Within no time the fire spread throughout the showroom. While the rest of the employees managed to get out of the showroom, Priya got trapped in a cabin. He died on the spot due to suffocation and burns.
In this accident, 45 electric scooters kept in the showroom were burnt to ashes. Nearby shops and buildings were immediately evacuated so that the fire did not spread further. Five fire tenders and an SDRF van reached the spot and brought the fire under control. During this time, the traffic police diverted the vehicles for safety. Police have started investigating the incident and the cause of the fire in the showroom is being ascertained.
This incident emphasizes the need for vigilance and correct safety standards during EV charging. Regular inspection and safe operation of batteries and charging devices is extremely important.
