Foreign Minister S Jaishankar
Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has given a very important statement regarding the relations between India and China. He has said that the two countries are creating a new balance. GMF Brucels Forum speaking at 2025
The Foreign Minister said that there is a complex balance in the world, because India and China have become powerful and these countries are also neighbors. Jaishankar said that apart from border issues, there are trade and economic issues. He said, “But as it is, China is rising, India is rising, now each of them is creating a new balance between the emerging powers of its and the world and then there is a more complex balance between these two emerging powers, which are also neighbors and some of those who are the same neighboring countries.”
Jaishankar said, “It is an incredibly complex matrix and has various dimensions, it has limit dimensions, it has balance, economic issues, business issues.” Jaishankar said that the economic and political models of India and China are quite different, so there are concerns, some may think that these differences will harm each other. He said, “It has concerns because our economic, social values, political models are different, so when you look at this relationship, it is much more complex and difficult than it seems at first sight, where people really think that you have this country and that country and that country and will balance each other and the other will separate the other.”
What did you say on border dispute?
Jaishankar said that unresolved border disputes play a big role in their relations. He said, “China, I mean this is a clear fact, but still I have to say. China is our nearest neighbor, well, it is a neighbor with which our border is also uncertain. So it is a big factor in our relationship.” Jaishankar said that China and India have civilized relations and both have developed parallel development. He said, “We have a situation before us, where China and India, which are different because they are two countries with more than one billion population, but also because they are two civilized states in a way, they are growing parallel.
What did you say about Europe?
When Jaishankar was asked if Europe is still indifferent to China, he said that it has changed a lot in the last decade or 15 years. He said, “I would say honestly, no, but I will doubt this answer. I have been coming to Europe continuously for about 15 years. Europe was in a very different position 15 or 10 years ago, so I would point to a certain development in Europe’s situation and stance, but I would also like to say that this is a very different picture.”
European countries growing in different directions
Jaishankar said that not all the countries of Europe are ready for this change, but there are countries which are adopting more strict stance. He said, “Sara Europe is not moving forward on the same speed and the same direction, so some people have different views, while some are more strict. I would now like to clarify this difference in China’s context.” To this, the interviewer said, “It seems that we were in the same position with Russia 15 years ago.” Jaishankar replied, “Okay, you are right! I don’t disagree,” and the audience started laughing. (Input-ANI)
