If you regularly pass through the toll plaza on the national highway and are troubled by the hassle of recharging fastag every time, then there is a great news for you. The central government is going to start Fastag Annual Pass from August 15, making the toll payment even easier and convenient. Under this scheme, the drivers will not need to pay toll charge every time, but they can pay a year throughout the year. What is Fastag Annual Pass
Annual passed on Fastag allows private cars/jeep/van to pass without a travel fee of one year or 200 trips (which is completed earlier) at the toll plaza of National Highway and National Expressway.
Where can the annual pass be purchased?
This pass can only be purchased and activated through highway travel (Rajmargyatra) mobile app and NHAI website.
How will the annual pass be active?
Annual pass will be active only when the eligibility check of the vehicle and the concerned Fastag will be completed. After investigation, ₹ 3,000 (for 2025–26) will have to be paid through highway travel app or NHAI website. As soon as the payment is successful, the annual pass on Fastag will be activated in about 2 hours.
If I already have Fastag, what new will have to be taken?
No. If you have already valid and eligible Fastag (which is correctly affixed on the windshield of the vehicle, is connected to a legitimate registration number and not blacklist), an annual pass can be activated on it.
Which pass will be valid on which toll plaza?
This annual pass will be valid only on the toll plaza of the National Highway (NH) and the National Expressway (NE). Fastag will normally function and regular fees will be charged on the state highway (SH) or local bodies run by local bodies.
What is a nearby validity?
Annual pass will remain valid to one year or 200 trips (which is first completed). When any of these conditions are fulfilled, the pass will automatically turn into a regular fastag. To re -get the benefit, you have to re -activate.
Is this for all types of vehicles?
No. This pass is only for private non-commercial car/jeep/van. The pass will be immediately deactivated when used in a commercial vehicle.
Can it be transferred to another vehicle?
No. This pass is non-transferable and will be valid only on the vehicle on which Fastag is installed and registered. It will become inactive when used in another vehicle.
Is it necessary to paste Fastag on a vehicle windshield?
Yes. Annual pass will be active only when the fastag is correctly affixed to the vehicle’s windshield.
If Fastag is registered with chassis number only, what will be passed?
No. Pass will be issued only on those fastags that have a vehicle registration number (VRN) update. An annual pass will not be available only on the fastag registered with the chassis number.
Who would be considered a trip?
Point-based toll plaza: A trip will be considered every time crossing. There will be two trips to come and go.
Closed Tolling Plaza: An entry and exit will be counted a trip.
Will I get SMS alert?
Yes. On activating the annual pass, you agree that the highway travel can send your registered mobile number from the bank to the SMS and other information.
Is it necessary to take an annual pass?
No. It is optional. Users who do not want to take it can travel by paying normal payments from their existing fastag.
