Film City in Goregaon, Mumbai saw a lot of chaos this morning when a sudden fire broke out on the set of the famous TV show ‘Anupama’. The incident occurred at around 5 am when some people on the set saw smoke rising and immediately informed the fire brigade. It is a matter of relief that there was no loss of life in this accident and all the artists and crew members managed to get out safely. Several fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and after hard work, the fire was controlled. Currently, cooling operation is going on in the area, so that the fire does not arise again.

What is the reason for the fire

The administration and police teams are present on the spot and the cause of the fire is being investigated. According to preliminary information, this fire may be caused by a short circuit, but it can be confirmed only after the investigation is completed. ‘Anupama’ is a popular television serial, which is seen by millions of viewers daily. Such an event has not only damaged the set, but can also affect the shooting schedule. Further plans are likely to be shared soon by the makers. In this series, the All India Cine Workers Association shared the information and demanded strict investigation in a long wide post.

All India Cine Workers Association told Puri incident

The X post of All India Cine Workers Association wrote, ‘A fierce fire broke out on the set of the famous TV serial Anupama in Film City, Mumbai at 5:00 am today. The fire completely destroyed the set exactly two hours before the shooting started at 7:00 am. Preparations were going on for the shooting of that day at the time of the fire. Many employees and crew members were present on the floor at the time of the incident. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported yet. However, if the shooting started at the scheduled time, the situation could have been frightening, causing loss of life and property. The incident gives another tragic reminiscent of frequent fire incidents in film studios around Mumbai and its surrounding film studios.

Whose negligence is

This post further wrote, ‘Due to the gross negligence of the manufacturers, production houses and television channels, the sets are repeatedly on fire, which fail to implement the most basic fire safety measures continuously. This apathy risks the lives of thousands of employees every day. Anupama’s set was burnt, but it is worrying that many nearby sets survived narrowly due to the fire. This could have a bigger disaster than this. Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, President of All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), issued a strict statement demanding Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis to order a high -level judicial inquiry into the incident of this fire. Gupta has demanded immediate suspension of the managing director of Film City and the Labor Commissioner of Mumbai, as well as blaming him for failing to implement security rules.

Fire safety protocol does not follow

In the end, it was said, ‘Aicwa alleges that due to their connivance and intentional negligence, the manufacturers are not obliged to follow the compulsory fire safety protocol, causing thousands of workers’ lives in serious threat. AICWA has also demanded a criminal FIR against manufacturers, production houses, television channels as well as the managing director of Film City and Labor Commissioner. In addition, AICWA has demanded that the investigation should also find out whether the fire was deliberately set up by the manufacturers or the channel to claim illegal insurance – a terrible possibility that means to risk life for financial gain.

Appeal to Chief Minister

Demanding an inquiry, it was said, “It should be completely confirmed whether an employee has died in this tragedy, as Aicwa believes that such incidents often hide such incidents to deliberately hide to avoid public reaction and legal consequences.” Gupta has also appealed to the Chief Minister to conduct a broad fire audit of every film set and studio across Maharashtra. He strongly urges that any manufacturer, production house or channel that is found to be violating fire safety norms, should be blacklisted with immediate effect. The life of thousands of daily wage laborers, technicians and artists is not meaningless. The system should not wait for any other disaster to take action. Aicwa is adamant on their demand for justice, accountability and security for every person working behind the curtain of India’s entertainment industry.
