Virat Kohli Fitness: Most players of the Indian cricket team appear to be fit today. The craze of fitness in Team India was brought by Virat Kohli. He imposed the Yo-Yo Test rule for fitness in the Indian team, which made all the players fit.

Virat could not play a few matches in his Test career due to poor fitness. However, there has been a player in the Indian team at a time who did not miss a single Test match due to his fitness. Actually, we are talking about Kapil Dev, former captain of Team India. Kapil did not miss a single match in his career due to injury.

Kapil Dev’s Test Career

Kapil Dev has played a total of 131 Test matches in his career. He did not play only one match out of these 131 Test matches, but the reason behind this is not fitness but something else. In fact, Kapil Dev was not made part of the team in the Kolkata Test against England played in 1984.

The reason behind this was a poor shot played by him in the last Test. The Indian team had to face defeat due to the ‘rash shot’ played by Kapil Dev. Due to his mistake, he was dropped from the third Test.

Kapil returned due to opposition from fans

As soon as the news of Kapil Dev being out of the Test team reached the fans, the fans started opposing this decision. The fans put a banner at the Eden Gardens, in which it was written that “if not Kapil, not Test”.

After the performance, Kapil was given a chance to play in the fourth Test. After the return, he made a huge contribution to the Indian team, 66 consecutive Test matches. Let me tell you, if Kapil Dev had not been removed from the Kolkata Test, he would have become the player playing Tests for India.
