Foreign Minister Jaishankar leaves from Pakistan, expresses gratitude to PM Shahbaz

Islamabad, October 16 (IANS). India’s Foreign Minister S., who visited Pakistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. Jaishankar expressed gratitude to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. He thanked him in a post on social media platform X after the conclusion of the one-day tour.

After boarding the Indian Air Force aircraft at Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar made a post on his X account.

He wrote, “Departing from Islamabad. Thanks to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and the Government of Pakistan for their hospitality and courtesy.”

Earlier in the year 2015, the Indian Foreign Minister had visited Pakistan. Late Sushma Swaraj had attended the Heart of Asia conference in Islamabad.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said India made a positive and constructive contribution to the SCO Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday.

During this period, a total of eight documents were signed, which include many important things related to the Indian point of view.

Earlier, the Foreign Minister said in the 23rd meeting of the SCO Council that terrorism, extremism and separatism are ‘three evils’, if not resolved then the benefits of cooperation and integration will not be achieved.

“If activities like cross-border terrorism, extremism and separatism take place, these are unlikely to promote trade, energy flows, connectivity and people-to-people contacts,” Jaishankar said.

Highlighting the challenges before the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the External Affairs Minister said, “It aims to strengthen mutual trust, friendship and good neighborly relations, develop multidimensional cooperation, especially of regional nature.”
