Dhaka: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s difficulties are now going to increase. The International Crime Tribunal (ICT) of Bangladesh on Sunday has been invited to Sheikh Hasina and two other persons under several serious allegations including mass murder in the case of violent suppresses of protests under the leadership of students last year. After Sunday’s proceedings, it has been decided that the case against Hasina will be started in her absence.

Big action on Hasina after 10 months of withdrawing from power

This process has started in Bangladesh when almost ten months have passed since the Hasina government’s withdrawal from power. The three -member tribunal bench in the case said after the prosecution formally filed the allegations of brutally crushing the demonstrations on Hasina, “We take cognizance of the allegations.” Along with this, the Tribunal has also issued a new arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina and then Home Minister Asaduzman Khan Kamal. The third accused, the then Inspector General of Police Chaudhary Abdullah al-Mamoon is currently in custody, and the case against him will run in his presence.

Why did the proceedings of the tribunal live live?

This is the first time that the proceedings of a tribunal in the history of Bangladesh have been broadcast live on television. It is being said that this means to give a direct message to Sheikh Hasina, who is taking shelter in India. So that he can come in panic. Significantly, Sheikh Hasina’s government was withdrawn from power after students’ protests on August 5 last year. Since then, many criminal cases have been conducted against him.

Earlier, ICT had issued an arrest warrant against Hasina when the interim government sent a diplomatic note to India demanding their extradition. India has confirmed to receive this note, although it has not made any public comments on it. (Language)
