Shibu Soren dies

Former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren has passed away. The former CM breathed his last at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. Shibu Soren, popularly known as ‘Dishom Guru’, was undergoing treatment for more than a month at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

President and Nitin Gadkari went to the hospital

A few days ago, President Draupadi Murmu and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari along with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren went to get information about the health of Shibu Soren at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. Shibu Soren was undergoing treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi since June 2025. Where he was placed on ventilator support for brain stroke and kidney related problems.

The former CM was three -time

Shibu Soren was the founder and prominent leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Those who were also known as Dishom Guru. Shibu Soren was born on 11 January 1944 in Nemra village of Ramgarh district of Jharkhand (Hazaribagh district of then Bihar). He was the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He was serving as CM three times (2005, 2008, and 2009). However, he could never complete his CM term.

Long battle fought for the rights of tribals

Shibu Soren played an important role in the Jharkhand movement. He started the ‘Dhankatani movement’ for the rights of tribals. Under this, he united the tribals against Mahajans and moneylenders. He was a Lok Sabha MP from Dumka from 1980 to 2019 and was currently a Rajya Sabha MP. Under his leadership, JMM made a decisive contribution in making Jharkhand a separate state.
