Four including brother and sister drowned while bathing in Son river in Varanasi, one saved, three missing news in Hindi
Varanasi. Four people, including a cousin brother and sister, drowned in the Son river while taking bath on Tuesday at Baliyari Ghat located in Ammatola of Chopan police station area of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. One drowning child was pulled out safely, but three others could not be traced. With the help of divers, the police continued searching for them till the evening. On the other hand, as soon as information about the incident was received, there was chaos among the family members.
Jitendra, a resident of Tandwa in Garhwa district of Jharkhand, had come to his brother-in-law Ashok’s house in Ammatola three days ago. On Tuesday morning, Jitendra (28) along with his son Shivani (6), son Abhishek (4), brother-in-law’s son Ashish (14), Rohit alias Choka (13), relative Deepak (25), resident of Muther, Ghorawal and some other members. Reached Baliyari Ghat to take bath in Son river. While taking bath, Ashish, Rohit, Deepak and Shivani got trapped in the strong current of the river and started drowning. When the people present on the shore heard their screams and saw them, there was panic.
Making noise, people ran to save them. Rohit got stuck in a mound about five hundred meters away from the ghat, due to which he was rescued safely. The other three were nowhere to be found. After receiving the information, CO Sadar Sanjeev Katiyar and Chopan SO Vishwanath Pratap Singh reached the spot. With the help of divers, the search for the three drowned was started. No one could be found till evening. The family members gathered near the ghat were in bad condition, crying.
