Fourteen Injured in Tempo-Bus Collision on Mumbai-Pune Expressway
Khopoli, 21st November 2024: Fourteen people sustained injuries in an accident involving a tempo and a private bus on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra’s Raigad District early today. The collision occurred around 3 AM as the bus, carrying 11 passengers, was travelling from Sangola (Solapur District) to Mumbai.
According to the official, the tempo, which was loaded with chickens, suffered a brake failure and rammed into the rear of the bus. The impact caused the bus to swerve off the highway, overturn, and fall into a roadside ditch approximately 20 feet deep. Among the injured were 11 bus passengers, including the driver, and three individuals travelling in the tempo.
The bus passengers were rescued and taken to a civic hospital in Khopoli, where they were treated for minor injuries and discharged. The three tempo occupants, who suffered severe injuries, are currently undergoing treatment at Mahatma Gandhi Mission (MGM) Hospital in Kalamboli, near Panvel in Navi Mumbai. The Khopoli Police are investigating the matter further.
