This day advocates for the awareness of Diabetes and the importance of taking precautions towards the disease. Diabetes has become a common disease these days and every 1 in 10 people is a diabetic. Apart from the common public many times celebrities including sportspersons also suffer from this health hardship. It is believed that diabetes is incurable and that creates major pressure among the public. But, there are ways one can prevent diabetes from happening. Indian Cricketer and 1983 World Cup winning team’s captain Kapil Dev is a diabetes patient. When he was diagnosed with Diabetes he started taking care of himself. Once Kapil Dev said, “If I weren’t a diabetic, I would have been a wild person. I’d have ruined my body by overeating and drinking. Discipline is crucial for a healthy and happy life. “On World Diabetes Day 2024, we can take inspiration from Kapil Dev to stay ‘Disciplined.’

Wasim Akram’s Diabetic Journey

Ex-Pakistani cricketer and commentator Wasim Akram’s diabetic journey has been long. He was diagnosed with the disease while playing a cricket match and since then he has set a routine for himself. His morning routine is specifically quite popular among fans. He walks for around 10.5km and eats a healthy breakfast including nuts and yogurt. Wasim Akram teaches us on World Diabetes Day 2024 that one needs to be physically active.

Billie Jean King’s Food Choices as a Diabetic

Billie Jean King is a former American tennis player. The athlete once said that when she was diagnosed with the disease she was well prepared. She told Huffington Post, “When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about three years ago, I felt well-prepared.” “For me, managing my diabetes has been all about making smart food choices without depriving myself of the foods I love,” she wrote in a blog post. A former New Zealand cricketer Craig Cumming was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2006. He thought that his career is over but after started taking insulin, he realized the importance of it. You need a fair bit of mental and physical strength but I’d lost all that and remember making a phone call to a good friend… and talked about whether I wanted to continue playing.
