A mistake of the pilot, and all finishes, but this time Captain Vikrant Khanna is sitting in the cockpit, an experienced pilot who is proud of his skills and perhaps even more sure. This is not a fantasy, but the truth of 2015, which has been launched by director and actor Ajay Devgan as ‘Runway 34’.
When landing became war
The film begins with a domestic flight, which is going from Dubai to Kochi, but the weather patterns in Kochi deteriorate that landing is not possible there. The decision has to be taken, pilot Vikrant Khanna (Ajay Devgan) and his co-pilot Tanya (Rakul Preet Singh) decide that the aircraft should be diverted to Trivandrum, but luck does not support here, Trivandrum is also wrapped in dense fog sheets. Now the situation becomes serious. The fuel is on the verge of ending. Announces Mayday in the pilot. After this, the thrill’s real game begins, six times, every time the line between hope and fear and a blind landing in the seventh attempt and finally everyone is rescued.
Where the film touches the reality
This story is not just a film, but is based on the real incident of 18 August 2015. Jet Airways flight 9W 555 was going from Doha to Kochi, but the situation worsened due to bad weather in Kochi and then Trivandrum. Eventually the aircraft was safely landed in the seventh attempt, but it was recorded in one of the most serious security events in the history of Indian Aviation.
Courtroom climax
In the film, the adventure decisions of Captain Vikrant are questioned and put forward these questions, Narayan Vedanta (Amitabh Bachchan) himself, a fiery investigating officer, who looks for justice on the thin line between truth and responsibility. Big B’s words are echoing in people’s ears, ‘Everyone makes a mistake, but obeying their mistake is a sign of real character.’ In the role of Tanya, Rakul Preet Singh has not only played the role of co-pilot, but he is also an eyewitness to that flight.
