G7 Summit: PM Modi meets President of South Korea and Mexico

Canaanasakis (Canada): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met South Korean President Lee J-Mayang and Mexico President Claudia Shinbam Pardo on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada’s Canaanaskeys. Officials said that Prime Minister Modi, who reached Cananaskis to attend the G7 summit, interacted with Lee J-Mel. He said that he also met the President of Mexico on the sidelines of the summit and shared his views on major global and regional issues including the priorities of ‘Global South’. This was the first meeting between the two leaders.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal posted on the social media platform ‘X’, “India-Mexico’s sweet and historical relations have been promoted. Prime Minister Modi met the President of Mexico during the 51st G7 Summit at Canada’s Canada. “He said,” Both sides discussed the ways to further deepen India-Mexico cooperation in business, pharmaceutical (medicine), science and technology, digital innovation and spoke on major global and regional issues including ‘Global South’, including the priorities of ‘Global South’. Modi thanked President Shinbam for the support given by Mexico in India’s fight against terrorism and invited him to come to India.

Earlier, PM Modi had said that he would discuss important global issues during the meeting with world leaders at the G7 summit and emphasize the priorities of ‘Global South’. The term ‘Global South’ is commonly used to refer to economically less developed countries. This is Modi’s first Canadian visit to the last decade. (Language)
