Ganesh puja vidhi at home: The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. On this day, devotees install a statue of Ganpati in their house and worship them with full legal practice. Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 27 August, Wednesday in 2025. Material of Ganesh Puja: For the success of worship of Shriganesh, it is very important to have the right material. Here is a list of required materials:
For Ganesha’s statue and installation:
• Statue of Ganesha
• Outpost or Pata (to keep the idol)
• Red or yellow cloth (to lay at the outpost)
For worship rituals:
• Kalash (copper or clay)
• Coin, betel nut, rice
• Ganga water or pure water
• Kumkum, turmeric, sandalwood, akshat (rice)
• Flowers, garlands, durva (durva) grass
• Red jaggery flower (compulsory)
• Incense sticks, incense, lamps, ghee, matches
• Panchamrit (mixture of milk, curd, ghee, honey and Ganga water)
For enjoyment and offerings:
• Modak (compulsory)
• Laddus, fruits, sweets

1. Establishment of Ganesha:
• Wake up early in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes.
• Clean the entire house and sanctify the place of worship.
• Bring the statue of Ganapati home in auspicious time and chant ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’.
• Make a small pile of rice by laying red cloth on the outpost and install the idol on it.
2. Pooja and rituals:
• Before starting the puja, meditate on Lord Ganesha and take a pledge to fast.
• Establish the urn and add water, rice, betel nut and a coin to it.
• Bath the statue of Ganesha with Panchamrit.
• Apply kumkum, turmeric and sandalwood tilak on the idol.
• Now offer them durva grass and flowers.
• Next, offer modak, laddus and other offerings.
3. Aarti and Mantra:
• Finally, sing Ganesha’s Aarti and chant the mantra ‘Om Ganeshaya Namah’.
• Distribute offerings to all after worship.
