Nair was recently removed from the post of Assistant Coach of Team India. Now he has once again joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Abhishek Nair was playing the role of batting coach of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. At that time Gautam was the mentor of the Gambhir team. When Nair was dropped from Team India after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, his career would be stopped. But Nair (Abhishek Nayar) shocked everyone by returning to KKR very soon.

Abhishek Nair said in an interview to PTI, “KKR is not just a team but a family. He added, “I have always seen anything as an opportunity and this is an opportunity for which I am very excited.”

Abhishek Nair is associated with Kolkata franchise since 2018. He has also contributed significantly to the KKR Academy. In 2024, when the team won their third IPL title after 10 years under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Nair was a batting coach.

Coaching in WPL

After being out of Team India, Abhishek Nayar has got another new responsibility. He has been appointed the head coach of Women’s Premier League (WPL) Team UP Warriors. This is the first time Nair will work as the head coach of a senior team.

On July 29, KKR’s head coach Chandrakant Pandit resigned from his post. The information of which was shared on the social media handle of Kolkata Knight Riders itself. Now after the removal of Chandrakant Pandit, KKR has started searching for a new coach. In such a situation, it is being speculated that Abhishek Nayar can get a big role.
