Mulder took over the captaincy in place of Keshav Maharaj
Significantly, this two -match Test Series World Test Championship (WTC) cycle being played between South Africa and Zimbabwe is not part of the cycle. For this reason, the Protiaz team had given rest to prominent players like their regular captain Temba Bavuma, Kagiso Rabada and Aden Markram. Keshav Maharaj was handed over the captaincy for this series, but the star all -rounder was injured on the third day of the first Test, which later led to a waist problem. Due to this injury, Maharaj was out of the second Test and Vian Mulder was made the captain for the current match, who redeemed the opportunity and created history.
