Good amendment…. Now there will be no ‘holidays’ in Supreme Court, there will be partial court working days!

The Supreme Court has amended its rules and used ‘partial court working day’ instead of ‘summer vacation, holiday’.
If reports are to be believed… The rules have been amended and notified under the leadership of CJI DY Chandrachud.
This notification states that – Now the duration of partial working days of the court and the number of holidays for the offices will be decided by the CJI and will be notified in the Official Gazette, so that the number of holidays excluding Sundays does not exceed 95 days. Earlier this number was 103.
There are reports that… In the Supreme Court calendar of 2025, “Partial Court Working Days” will start from 26 May 2025 to 14 July 2025.
It is noteworthy that… every year there is a summer vacation of more than seven weeks in the Supreme Court, but even during this time there are two to three vacation benches in which the judges hold hearings.
Similarly, there are winter holidays at the end of the year also.
If we believe the news… On the issue of holidays, many judges including CJI DY Chandrachud have said that during this time, judges do not go out and celebrate holidays, rather the holidays are often used to write pending decisions.
Remember, in institutions like banks, holidays no longer have that much impact due to internet transactions, but in many institutions, where physical presence is necessary, holidays slow down the pace of regular work. Affects, so… This is a nice modification!
