New rules for using internet during air travel have been issued by the government.

If you travel a lot by plane, there is good news for you. The central government has made a major change in the rules for using internet in airplanes. New guidelines have been issued by the government regarding internet use during air travel. It was told by the government that during air travel, passengers will be able to use Internet through Wi-Fi only after crossing the altitude of 3 thousand meters.

Will be able to use WiFi at this height

The new guidelines state that air travelers can use electronic devices only after reaching an altitude of 3,000 meters. New guidelines have been issued by the government under the Flight and Sea Connectivity Rules 2018.

Such guidelines have been issued by the government to avoid interference with the mobile towers present on the ground. Now the newly notified rules will be known as the Air and Sea Connectivity (Amendment) Rules, 2024.

Let us tell you that earlier in the year 2020, the government had allowed the airlines operating in the country to provide free Wi-Fi services to the passengers during air travel. This rule gave great relief to the passengers traveling in flights. Earlier, there was a ban on using internet during flight which ended with this rule.

Rules set for free WiFi

Let us tell you that along with providing free Wi-Fi facility during the journey, the government had also fixed some special rules. It was said by the government that passengers will have to follow some rules to use Wi-Fi during air travel. The government had given the flight captain the right to turn Wi-Fi on and off. Along with this, it was also decided that Wi-Fi will be activated in the flight only when the flight is in cruising speed. Along with this, a rule was also laid down that all the aircraft providing free Wi-Fi facility would be certified by DGCA.
