This information is received just 4 hours in advance. According to the news of the Times of India, the Railways is working on a system under which the passenger chart will be released 24 hours before the current standard of releasing the chart with confirmed seats instead of the current standard. Currently, passengers with waiting tickets, especially from far-flung areas, have to face a lot of trouble to catch the train. They will get a big relief from getting update of seat confirmation 24 hours ago.
Pilot run started
A senior railway official said that a pilot project was run in Bikaner Division in Rajasthan from June 6 to give update to seat confirmation 24 hours ago and no problem has been reported so far. We will run this pilot run for a few more weeks to identify and fix any problem. For example, passengers coming from 100 kilometers or more away will be able to reach the railway station without any hassle when they get information 24 hours in advance.
No problem in issuing charts 24 hours before
Another official said, “Since Tatkal ticket trains are booked 48 hours before the scheduled departure, it will not be a problem to release the entire chart a day before.” So far, it is not clear whether the second and third list of passengers with railway confirmed reservation will release or not, as many passengers with confirmed tickets are expected to cancel their booking within the final 24 hours. A source said, “Let the pilot run over and then decisions will be taken keeping in mind the interest of the passengers.” Previously, railway reservation charts were usually prepared twice. The first chart was prepared four hours before the scheduled departure time of the train and the second or final chart was prepared 30 minutes before the departure of the train.
