Good news for these government employees, an additional promotion will be available on retirement day
Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) And there is good news for government employees working in Assam Rifles (AR). Now they will get an honorary rank on retirement day- which will be one level above. The honorary rank will be above one level above the rank retiring. According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on May 30, 2025, “This historic decision taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been taken with the aim of boosting the self-respect, pride and morale of the personnel who retired from the post of Sub-Inspector.
Under this scheme, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPS) and Assam Rifles will be awarded an honorary rank of personnel (from Constable to Sub-Inspector) in Assam Rifles (from Constable to Sub-Inspector). Although there is no financial or pension benefit in this honorary promotion, it is a symbolic gesture that aims to increase the pride, morale and self-esteem of the retired soldiers and junior officers who have served the country with dedication and honesty.
Who will get benefit?
This scheme is for personnel below rank, ie for the personnel from constable to sub-inspector rank in CAPF and from Rifleman in Assam Rifles to Naib Subedar rank. The rank given should be in the same service category as the personnel retiring.
What are the conditions of eligibility?
At the time of retirement, personnel should meet all promotion norms. A clean service record is required. The annual performance evaluation report (APAR) for the last five years should be given at least “good” status. There should be no major punishment in the last five years. Honesty should be beyond doubt. Final approval is required from departmental inquiry and vigilance (DE/Vigilance). Additionally, the honorary rank will be given only on the recommendation of the commanding officer and will be effective from the retirement day.
The honorary rank will be given on the basis of the recommendation of the concerned commanding officer. Honorary rank personnel will be provided on the retirement day. The honorary rank will be given only when the rank provided is present in the category that is related to the personnel. Providing honorary rank will not affect the mutual seniority of personnel.
