Good News! Now the toll on this bridge is absolutely free, you should have this car with this
Electric vehicles are exempted from toll at India’s longest sea bridge, Atal Setu (East Mumbai Trans Harbor Link or MTHL). An official gave this information on Friday. According to PTI news, the state’s Urban Development Department said in a notification last Thursday that the discount would be applicable to electric four -wheelers and electric buses, including state transport undertakings and buses operated by private operators.
Partial amendment in pre -notification
The decision taken under the provisions of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1958 is a partial amendment in the earlier notification of 31 January this year, with a 21.8 km long maritime link and all the category vehicles using its access roads.
The objective of this decision is to expand toll discounts on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Samriddhi Expressway soon. Toll discounts on electric vehicles reflect Maharashtra’s intentions to reduce carbon emissions, deal with harmful pollutants and promote clean transport solutions.
Which vehicles will not get toll
Electric mobility has been given several advantages under the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy (EV Policy), including toll discounts on major highways. Eligible vehicles for toll relief include private electric cars, passenger four -wheelers, state transport buses, and electric vehicles of urban public transport. However, electric cargo vehicles will not get the benefit of this discount.
22,400 registered electric vehicles
This decision will promote EV adoption and will reduce the dependence on fuel in transport. At present, the fleet of electric vehicles in Mumbai is growing, including 18,400 light four wheelers, 2,500 light passenger vehicles, 1,200 heavy passenger vehicles and 300 medium passenger vehicles. There are 22,400 registered electric vehicles in total. Atal bridge passes 60,000 vehicles per day, out of which 34,000-40,000 vehicles especially use the Atal Setu, 22,000 on the Samriddhi Expressway and thousands of vehicles run on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
