Google: Recently, Google Maps revealed several cutting-edge AI-driven features for Maps. The updates include a better Street View experience, an integrated augmented reality (AR) lens in Maps, extensive search capabilities, and more. In this article, we will tell you all about these features. Read on to learn more.
Google Maps new AI-driven features
Lens in Maps
Using augmented reality and artificial intelligence, Google Lens in Maps helps users discover local locations and gain insight into their surroundings. Pointing your phone towards the location of interest causes it to overlay information about neighboring ATMs, transit stops, restaurants, coffee shops, and businesses on the screen.
Immersive View
Users can see a 3D model of a place before going there in person with the help of the Immersion View function for routes. The digital model of the world is produced by integrating billions of aerial and street-view photos with artificial intelligence and computer vision.
Something special for EVs
A new tool that Google is rolling out for Maps is EV information. It tells drivers whether a charging station is suitable for their car, as well as the last time it was used. Google-integrated autos as well as iOS and Android smartphones will have access to this data.
Google said in its blog post, “Now, when you search in Maps for specific things like the best place to find “animal latte art” or “pumpkin patch with my dog,” you’ll get photo-first results of what you’ re looking for. These results are based on the analysis of billions of photos shared by the Google Maps community — all done with AI and advanced image recognition models.”
