Google has settled in its 4 -year -old Android TV case. Tech company has settled this case with CCI for Rs 20.24 crore. The company was filed for the United Business Practice in the Android TV segment. After about four years, the company has decided to set the case.

A case has been settled by Google for the first time. In 2023, the CCI had added provision of settlement and commitment on companies by changing the rules. This is the first case after a change in the rules, which has been set by Google. Google was complained about the unfair business in the year 2021 at the CCI, after which the case was being heard.

Settlement with these conditions

According to the PTI report, after the case was prosecuted for nearly 4 years, the CCI proposed the settlement in the case under the New India Agreement in front of the Tech Company, which Google has accepted. Google will provide Play Store for Android Smart TV in India and a standalone license for play services, which will eliminate the need to burn these services or implement default placement conditions.

Additionally, except for the requirement of valid Android Compatibility Commissions (ACC) for shipping devices in India, which do not include Google Apps, OEM can now sell and develop inconsistent Android devices without violating the Television App Distribution Agreement (TADA).

After this agreement, the Regulator (CCI) has given its consent to settle the ongoing case on Google. Also, the company has been directed to pay Rs 20.24 crore for this. In many countries other than India, Google is being prosecuted for Monopoli. The company has been facing several allegations of wrongly using its monopoly in the digital world.
