Why was the ban?

According to the report, the Tokyo District Court of Japan has banned the Pixel 7 series due to a violation of patent used by Google in the 4G LTE network. A South Korean company named Pantech filed a patent theft case on Google. The company alleged that Google stole a patent technique that is used to send 4G network data correctly in the phone.

This technology is used in smartphones that use LTE connectivity. Although South Korean company Pentech is no longer a part of the Global Hardware Business, it still has many active standard-sessions patents. The company has claimed that Google has used its patent in Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro with unlicensed license.

Calls will not be sold in Japan

The Tokyo court agreed with the Pentch company’s claim and admitted that Google has violated the Japanese patent law. However, this decision of the court will not only affect the commercial sale of the Google Pixel 7 series phone, but the court has banned the promotion, import, transfer and public performance of Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro. After the ban, both these phones will no longer be sold in Japan.

After this decision of the court, Google’s sword of being banned in Japan is also hanging on Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series. The court has strongly criticized this attitude of the American tech company.
