Got appendix operated, 12 years later found out the doctor had left scissors in the stomach.

Gangtok. A big case of negligence in treatment has come to light. In fact, 12 years after a woman’s operation, it was found that the doctors left surgical scissors in her stomach. At present, scissors have been taken out from the woman’s stomach. He is currently admitted in the hospital and his condition remains stable.

Actually, this case is from Sikkim, in 2012 a woman living here suffered severe stomach pain. According to media reports, the woman reached Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial (STNM) Hospital near her home. After investigation here, it was found that he had appendicitis. The doctors performed surgery on him and sent him home.

Suffered from pain for 12 years


According to media reports, a few days after the operation, the woman started having stomach pain again. He took medicine from many doctors for the pain but he did not get relief. After this, she again reached STNM Hospital on 8 October 2024. Here when the doctors did his X-ray, they were surprised to find that there were surgical scissors in his stomach. He was admitted immediately. After examination, he was operated upon and scissors were taken out from his stomach.

Police is investigating the matter

According to the local police, at present the woman has not complained to them. Investigation revealed that doctors had removed scissors from the woman’s stomach. A team of doctors is continuously monitoring the woman’s health. After the surgery, the woman’s condition is said to be stable and she is recovering. Further investigation is being done in the matter after interrogating the family members.
