The government has advised users to take precautions while installing the app in their smartphones. In view of the increasing cybercrime, the government has warned crores of users of the country. Many times cyber criminals get fake apps downloaded in users’ phones and they have to suffer heavy losses on seeing it. According to the report of the Ministry of Home Affairs, more than 6,000 people in the country are becoming victims of cybercrime every day. According to RBI, crores of rupees are cheated every year by cyber criminals.
Government’s Warning
According to the website of National Cybercrime, the government warned the smartphone users that any app in the phone should be installed with any reliable source. For example, Android users should install any app in their phone only from Google Play Store. At the same time, iPhone users should install the app from the Apple App Store itself. Not only this, verified apps should be installed in your phone from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Cybercrime
Many times cyber criminals also provide the duplicate version or dummy app of any popular app to lure people. In such a situation, users should install it in the phone only after seeing the verified apps. The government has advised users to install the app from the official website.
Take these caution
After downloading the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store, only those apps should be given the necessary permission.
Give access to the camera, location, microphone, storage etc. of the app for limited time only.
While installing the app, users should give permission of camera, location etc. only while using it. On giving permission forever, your personal conversation or data etc. can be easily accessed. After this, those details can be fed by misuse.
