Government will find new markets for agricultural products, Shivraj said- do not worry about tariffs
Union Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chauhan told the farmers on Tuesday that they do not need to worry about the situation created due to the increase in American tariff. He said that the huge Indian market would seek new places to export agricultural produce. Chauhan said that India has taken a clear stand in this matter. What Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently said, “They will not compromise on the interests of farmers, even if they have to pay a heavy price”, it is the voice of India and Indian farmers.
America wants to sell its agricultural products in India
The US has increased tariffs on Indian products to 50 percent, while the two countries are discussing a bilateral trade agreement. This trade agreement is stuck due to India’s American demand for high access to agriculture and dairy markets. Addressing a group of farmer leaders, he said, “Don’t worry.” Let’s see what happens. We will find new markets. India is such a big market that it will be consumed here. ”America has a population of only 30 crores, while Europe has a population of 50 crores.
India’s 140 million population our strength
The Union Minister said, “140 crore population of India is not our weakness, but our strength. This is our exam time and we do not need to bow down. ”The minister said that America should keep the agriculture sector separate because there is no proper comparison between agricultural work and agricultural holdings between India and America. Production costs per hectare in the US are also lower due to genetically enhanced and use of other techniques than in India.
If American product comes to India, prices will fall
The Agriculture Minister said that American farmers have 10,000-15,000 hectares of agricultural holdings, while Indian farmers have less than 3 acres. The US wants to send its soybean, maize, wheat and other products here. He said, “If it reaches here easily, it will further decline in local prices. Then where will our farmers go? Therefore, it was decided that whatever happens, the interests of the farmers will not be compromised at any cost. ”
