Government’s Diwali gift to employees, 4 percent increase in dearness allowance

Raipur. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, while discussing with the reporters on Wednesday before the cabinet meeting, announced a four percent increase in the dearness allowance of the employees. Till now the state employees were getting 46 percent dearness allowance, which will increase to 50 percent. State employees will get this benefit from October 1.

For some time, the employees of the state had been demanding to be given dearness allowance at par with the central government employees. Now the state government has increased their dearness allowance by four percent and made it at par with that of central government employees. On the occasion of Diwali, Vishnu Dev Government has given this gift to the employees. More than three lakh employees of the state will benefit from the government’s decision.

It may be noted that the state government had increased the dearness allowance of the employees by four percent in the month of March, due to which their allowance was increased from 42 percent to 46 percent. Which was implemented from March 1. During that time, the government had also announced to give the final outstanding installment of the seventh pay scale to the officers and employees.

After about seven months, the state government has once again increased the dearness allowance of the employees and now they will start getting the same dearness allowance as the central employees. At the time of Rakshabandhan, the employees were expecting that the state government would increase their dearness allowance but it did not happen then and now the state government has given them this gift on the occasion of Diwali.
The employees have expressed happiness over the increase in the dearness allowance of the state government and making it at par with the central government employees. Employees are terming this decision of the government as a decision taken in the interest of the employees.
