The central government has banned 25 OTT apps like Altt, Ully, Desiflix, Bigshots. These apps are accused of serving vulgar and bold content to users. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a clear instruction to the Internet Service Providers (ISP), saying that these websites and apps should be blocked immediately in India.

The government has ordered the OTT apps and their websites to be banned. Unlawful, objectionable and pornographic content were being broadcast on him. The government has directed to ban these 25 apps and OTT platforms with immediate effect.

According to the report of News18, the government has taken action under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (IT Act, 2000) and IT Rules, 2021 (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) on these OTT apps and websites. Many of these apps and websites were bypassing the content certification set by the government and violating the rules of the IT Act, 2021.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has issued orders to the concerned agencies to ban these apps and websites. The government said that this action has been taken on the basis of inputs being received from agencies. Pornographic and objectionable content were being broadcast continuously through these platforms.
