The Government Institute Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C) has released a new warning for millions of mobile users of the country. The agency working under the Ministry of Home Affairs said that these days cyber criminals are targeting users keeping the Internet on during the call. A video has been released by the i4C, warning of the danger caused by it.

In this video of i4C, users are being warned that during the call, cyber criminals can listen to things by taking access to your microphone if the internet is on. They navigate the apps given to the microphone permission in your device through Google Chrome. After this, you work to listen to things done on your mobile. Taking advantage of this, hackers can also do a big fraud by sending OTP through calls on your phone.

The Cybercrime Coordination Center has also told about how to avoid it in its video. According to the information given in the video, users can protect themselves by following the steps given below.

  • For this, users will first have to go to the Google Chrome app in their phone.
  • Then you have to tap on the three dots menu given in the side.
  • Here go to the settings and scroll down and go to the site settings.
  • Then here you can check which apps have been given permission of microphone.
  • You can remove the permission of the microphone from those apps one by one.

Permission can also be removed in this way

  • Apart from this, you go to the settings of your phone.
  • Then you have to go to privacy and go to the permission manager.
  • Here you can check the apps that have been given permission of microphone.
  • The apps that do not need can remove the permission of the microphone one by one.
