Ground staff set fire on pitch, match between Scotland and Namibia canceled due to this

The Maple Leaf North-West Ground of King City in Ontario, Canada was successful in grabbing the attention of every cricket lover on Monday. In fact, it rained on the ground before the match of ICC World Cup League 2 between Namibia and Scotland and the pitch became quite wet. When the ground staff tried to dry the pitch, they adopted a method that everyone was surprised to see.

Actually, the field workers burnt fire on it to remove moisture from the pitch. This incident went viral as soon as pictures came out on social media. The players and officials surprised all this, but the pitch could not be ready till the scheduled time. Due to this, the match was canceled due to the non -commencement of the game till 9:02 pm local time.

However, the incident of setting fire on the pitch spread like fire on social media and fans started giving fun reactions on social media on this method of ground staff. Cricket Scotland has also shared some pictures that you can see below.

Earlier, Namibia won by defeating Canada by five wickets. At the same time, Scotland scored 369 runs against the Netherlands, but the opposition team achieved the target with four balls and won the match by four wickets. Now both teams will prepare for their next matches. Scotland will clash with Canada again on 30 August and Namibia again on 2 September.

Namibia would like to perform well in this tournament as it will be the co-magazine of the 2027 ODI World Cup. However, despite co-hostility, Namibia is not sure to be automatically qualified, as he is not a full member of the ICC and will have to go through a normal qualification process. Significantly, Namibia last played the 2003 World Cup, while Scotland’s last participation was in the 2015 World Cup.
