Life of guru har krishan: Guru Har Kishan ji’s light festival or birth anniversary is celebrated every year on the Navami date of Krishna Paksha of Shravan month. 1. Guru Har Kishan Dev Ji: Known known as ‘Bala Pir’- Guru Har Kishan Dev Ji was the eighth guru of Sikhism. He was born on 1656 AD i.e. Vikram Samvat 1713, Kiratpur Sahib, Punjab on the Navami date of Krishna Paksha of Shravan month. He was the second son of the seventh Guru of Sikhs, Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji and Mata Kishan Kaur.

2. The youngest Guru Gaddi: Guru Har Kishan Dev Ji took over Guru Gaddi at a young age of just five years. His father, Guru Har Rai ji disqualified his elder son Ram Rai for wandering from Sikh dignity. Therefore, he chose his youngest son Harkishan ji as his successor. Due to becoming a guru at such a young age, he is also known as ‘Bala Pir’ or Bal Guru.

3. Life and significant contribution: Guru Har Kishan Dev Ji’s lifetime was very short, he got light-hearted at the age of only 8, but in his short life he did such things that he is still remembered with great reverence. Even at such a young age, Guru Har Kishan Dev Ji’s understanding and spiritual knowledge was extraordinary. His father often took the tests of him and his elder brother, in which Harkishan ji always met.
When Guru Har Kishan Dev ji came to Delhi, there were terrible epidemics like cholera and smallpox. Amidst the insensitivity of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, Guru Sahib himself served sick and poor people day and night without making any distinction between caste or high and low. He gave medicines to the patients and raised their morale.

4. In the Ardas of Sikhism, it is said, ‘Dithi sabhe hurt jaye’, which means ‘whose philosophy removes all sorrows.’ This line is dedicated to Guru Har Kishan Dev Ji. It was believed that the sufferings of the people used to get away from his philosophy.

5. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: The famous Gurudwara Bangla Sahib of Delhi is built at the same place where Guru Har Kishan Dev ji stayed in Delhi and served the people. The lake of this gurudwara is still famous for its purity and healing properties.

6. ‘Baba Bakay’: Before his death, when he was asked about the next Guru, he only called ‘Baba Bakaye’. With this, Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was recognized as the next Guru, who was doing penance in Bakala village at that time.

The message of selfless service, spiritual knowledge and human welfare by Guru Har Kishan Dev ji, inspires millions of people even today. His life teaches us that not age, but only karma and loyalty decide the greatness of a person.
