History and significance
Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in Talwandi Nankana Sahib in 1469. His father, Kaluram Mehta Ji Khatri (also known as Kaluran Chand Das Bedi) and mother, Tripta Devi, played important roles in his early life. He later married Sulkhani Devi, daughter of Mool Chand and Chando Rani, and had two sons, Lakhmi Chand Ji and Shri Chand Ji.
Guru Nanak’s teachings emphasized the importance of equality, community service, and devotion to one God, which still guides the principles of Sikhism today.
