Hansal Mehta, thundered on Prateik Shah, demands an inquiry against the cinematographer of ‘Homebound’
Hansal Mehta rained on Prateek Shah
Prateek Shah, cinematographer of Karan Johar’s film ‘Homebound’, has been accused of sexual exploitation. This is the same film whose premiere was held in the Cannes Film Festival 2025 in recent times and its director Neeraj Ghaywan, producer Karan Johar and actor Ishaan Khattar, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa also made their presence on Cannes’s red carpet during the film’s premiere. Many women have made serious allegations against Prateek Shah of exploitation and indecent behavior against him. Dharma Production has already separated herself from Prateik Shah’s allegations and now filmmaker Hansal Mehta has also responded to the whole matter. He has demanded an inquiry into the matter.
What did Hansal Mehta say?
Hansal Mehta has written a note on X, in which he has emphasized that silence should be broken against such people and strict action should be taken. Hansal Mehta wrote in his post- ‘The misconduct thrives in silence. It thrives in fear. There should be a thorough investigation into the violent behavior done by the people in power. If it is found to be true, it should be exposed without any delay. For a long time, hunters have used effects, privileges and fear as weapons to silence the victims. This silence should be broken.
Every harassment is like sexual harassment- Mehta
Hansal Mehta further states that misuse of power is not limited to any gender. He further writes- ‘Women sitting on the posts of rights have also harmed. There are many forms of exploitation. It is not always sexual. Mental, emotional and psychological exploitation can be equally painful. It can be equally violated. Work place, especially creative workplaces, often hide poison. This has got to stop. No art, any film, any script should be at the cost of someone’s safety or mental balance. The victims need a voice. They need a system that hears and works. The culture of accountability should not be abolished. It has to be improved further. ‘
What is the whole matter?
