Hariyali Teej Vrat Katha: According to religious belief, on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Sawan month, Suhagin women and virgin girls perform special worship of Shiva-Parvati, that date is called Hariyali Teej. In the month of Sawan, after a hundred years of penance to Tritiya Tithi, Goddess Parvati received the boon to get Lord Shiva in the form.

Teej Katha:
The story of this fast was narrated by Shiva to Parvatiji to remember his previous birth. Shivji says- O Parvati, you did a lot of penance to get me as a groom on the Himalayas. Food-water, eat leaves, winter-summer, suffer pain in the rain. Your father was sad. Naradji came to your house and said- I have come on the sending of Vishnu. He wants to marry your daughter and get married. Explain your opinion.
Mountains agreed to marry you with Vishnu with happiness. Naradji told this good news to Vishnu, but when you came to know, it was very bad. You had accepted me as your husband. You told your mind to Saheli. Friend hid you in a dense forest where your father could not reach. You started meditating there. Shivji further said to Parvatiji- Your father has united the earth in your search but you did not meet. You were absorbed in my worship by making a Shivling with sand in the cave. Pleased, I promised to fulfill their wishes. Your father reached the cave while searching. You told that most of the lives have been spent in penance to get Shiva in the husband. Today, penance was successful, Shivji selected me. I will walk home with you on the same condition if you agree to marry me to Shiva.
The mountain agreed. Later we got married with law and order. Hey Parvati! We could get married as a result of the hard fast you did. I give desired results to a woman who observes this fast with devotion. He gets the boon of immovable honeymoon like you.
