Hartalika Teej 2025: Complete method of worship: This fast is observed by staying unhappy and nirjala. The method of worship is as follows:
1. Preparation of Morning-
• Wake up early in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes.
• Make idols of Lord Shiva, Mata Parvati and Ganesha with soil or sand for worship.
2. Decoration of the place of worship
• Place a post at a holy place of the house and decorate the pavilion with banana leaves on it.
• Lay red or yellow cloth at the outpost.
3. order of worship-
• First of all worship Ganesha.
• Then install statues of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
• Abhishek: Make Panchamrit by mixing water, milk, curd, honey and ghee in a lotus. Anoint all the idols with this Panchamrit.
• Makes: Sixteen makeup content to Mata Parvati.
• Flowers and Naivedya: Offer Belpatra, Shami Patra, Dhatura, Aak’s flowers and other flowers to Lord Shiva. Offer red flowers and durva grass to Mata Parvati. Offer modak, laddus and fruits in the form of indulgence.
• Aarti: Burn a lamp of ghee and perform the aarti of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
4. Fasting story and awakening-
• Listen or read the fast story of Hartalika Teej during the fast.
• In this fast, awakening overnight has special significance.
• Remember Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati by performing bhajan-kirtan at night.
5. Fasting Paran-
• After worshiping the next morning, donate food and makeup to a beautiful woman.

Fasting story: Why is this festival celebrated? According to the legend, Mother Parvati did harsh penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Her father decided her marriage to Lord Vishnu, but Parvati wanted to make Shiva her husband. His friends killed him (every) and hid him in the forest (table). That is why this fast was named Hartalika.
In the forest, he made a Shivalinga with sand and remained austerity and did severe penance. Pleased with his penance, Lord Shiva appeared to him and accepted him as his wife. Since then it is believed that a woman who keeps this fast with full devotion receives the blessings of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
What to do and what not to do during the fast?
• What to do: Be completely free and disrespectful.
• Meditate on Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.
• What not to do: Do not bring anger, lies and a feeling of hatred towards anyone.
• Sleep is prohibited during the fast.
